Position in the Organization:
● The administrative assistant will report directly to this company’s General Counsel, while reporting on project management to this company’s paralegal.
●The General Counsel’s office functions as general support for the organization’s many departments, including both external programs and internal administration.
● The General Counsel’s office is responsible for developing and leading this company’s patient advocacy efforts and other matters involving the legal defense of life.
Expected Job Responsibilities Include:
● Maintain the legal department’s calendar and coordinate travel arrangements;
● Communicate with families, clients, and outside counsel;
● Provide administrative support to the legal department’s attorneys and paralegals;
● Provide administrative support on an as-needed basis to outside counsel or allied attorneys;
● Serve as a member of the organization’s patient advocacy team, counseling families facing denial of treatment issues;
● Create, maintain, and organize files;
● Schedule and organize external programs, such as continuing legal education courses and speaking opportunities hosted by the legal department;
● Attend functions and meetings with other organizational departments and speak intelligently about the activities of the legal department;
● Provide weekly legal updates to the organization and outside counsel;
● Maintain contact lists relevant to the legal department;
● Generally assist the organization’s other departments on an as-needed basis.
Schedule: The position is expected to work a 20-hour work week in an office setting. Occasionally, the position will be required to work odd, long hours over a weekend or through the evenings when an emergency situation arises under the department’s patient advocacy work or around organizational-wide events that require support from all staff.

● Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
● Strong knowledge of Google, including Gmail, Drive, Docs, and Sheets
● Ability to work independently, manage large workloads, and keep deadlines
● Ability to juggle multiple activities and work under pressure
● Ability to multitask
● Ability to be flexible in project management and day-to-day activities
● Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment that changes rapidly
